If you’re chasing comfort, you’re chasing the wrong thing. That’s the whole reason I wrote Killing Comfort—because I watched so many people stall their potential not from a lack of knowledge, but from an addiction to ease.

The subtitle of the book says it all: The Overlooked Prerequisite to Extraordinary Results. Because killing comfort isn’t a mindset tweak—it’s the foundation you need to truly level up.

I want to walk you through the structure of the book and some of the big ideas, so whether you’ve read it or not, you can start applying these principles today.

Why I Wrote Killing Comfort

After years of coaching people in fitness and business, I kept seeing the same issue over and over again. They weren’t missing a tactic or tool—they were stuck because they avoided discomfort. They were avoiding doing hard things. And as someone who’s now coached thousands, scaled businesses, and built a life I’m proud of, I can tell you this: the sooner you kill comfort, the sooner you succeed.

Part 0: Introduction – Discomfort is the Starting Line

The first few chapters are dedicated to making the case that discomfort is not optional. It's required. Whether you're chasing personal growth, business results, or physical performance, you have to press forward against your own desire.

Core idea: Comfort is not your friend. Easy is not the goal. Hard is the goal.

Part 1: The True Cost of Comfort

This section outlines the traps people fall into when they prioritize comfort—whether they realize it or not.

  • Chapter 4: Sneaky Comfort – Comfort shows up even when you think you’re chasing hard. It’s subtle and creeps in through success, income, and habits.

  • Chapter 5: Prosperity’s Plague – The more you succeed, the more you need to watch out for comfort. We live better than ancient kings, but that comfort is killing our edge.

  • Chapter 6: Ideas – Bad ideas and limiting beliefs are comfort in disguise. Letting go of those is a key part of killing comfort.

  • Chapter 7: Performance – From alcohol to sleep deprivation, your daily decisions impact your ability to show up strong.

  • Chapter 8: Mind – One of the most powerful sections. If your mind isn’t sharp and resilient, you’ll default to comfort.

  • Chapter 9: Leadership – The ultimate question: Would you follow you? If the answer is no, you’ve got work to do.

Part 2: The Truth – Aviate, Navigate, Communicate

This framework—borrowed from my aviation background—is a process for managing challenge and chaos.

  1. Aviate – Just fly the plane. Start with daily habits. Don’t think big yet—just get consistent.

  2. Navigate – Once habits are in place, set direction. This is where long-term goals come into play.

  3. Communicate – After you’ve stabilized and planned, start bringing in mentorship, coaching, and helping others.

Too many people try to “communicate” before they’ve even figured out how to aviate. Get the order right.

Part 3: The Results – Living the Killing Comfort Lifestyle

This final part shows what it looks like to actually live this lifestyle—and sustain it.

  • Chapter 13: Balance – What are the core human elements you need to keep in check (sleep, sun, food, etc.)?

  • Chapter 14: Focus – Deep work, real output, mental clarity.

  • Chapter 15: Grit – How to train it and why it’s your edge in a world softening by the day.

  • Chapter 16: Essential Habits – Think hormesis, cold exposure, heat, deliberate stress.

  • Chapter 17: Mistakes – Like complaining. Nothing kills growth faster.

  • Chapter 18: The Constant Battle – Comfort is always waiting. Stay vigilant.
