Most people fail because they don’t know when to sharpen the spear—or when to grab an axe.
don’t make this business mistake when you’re stuck…
have you ever sharpened a stick into a spear?
as a boy who spent a lot of time in the woods, I have.
If you’ve never done this, it’s easy.
At first…
each angled slice with the knife starts to produce the spear tip.
from here you run into 1 of 2 issues.
issue #1: you under sharpen.
you get tired of making the damn spear.
a point is formed, but it’s not meaningful enough to be a weapon.
so you stop…you got bored.
issue #2: you over sharpen.
you can only make it so sharp before you break the tip off.
the very thing that will sharpen can also destroy.
so if you’re stuck…
it’s either because you refuse to make 1% improvements…
so you need to stop chasing the next shiny object—you don’t need an axe.
or you’ve improved it all and are only making .001% improvements…
and it’s time to start looking for an axe; the next opportunity.
try harder,
