Hey friend,
I’ve got an Instagram reel coming towards the end of the month that I spent 3 hours working on…
I have an editor and a videographer. So I am not even talking about filming and editing.
No, I spent 3 hours preparing a single 60-second video that someone else filmed and someone else will edit.
You might be asking:
Is this reel going to go viral?
No, it won’t…
Will this reel bring in a significant amount of business?
No, it won’t…
Then, why do it?
The point is developing the skill. The skill of creating good content.
In Q4, I am putting my ‘Try Harder’ hat on and going all in on content.
I started creating more content in Q3. I am NOT going for more volume, but the same volume - with higher QUALITY.
I want to improve at the creation, scripting, and ideas behind content creation.
Again, I want to master the skill.
I’ve written 1,000’s of blog posts and podcasts. I’ve sent countless marketing emails. Yet, I’m at the bottom of a steep learning curve and want to improve.
A novice would sit here and say, “Wow, 3 hours for a 60-second video that won’t do much for you… what a waste of time!”
But, I know it takes 3 hours this time. It will be 1 hour next time, and 30 minutes after that.
Then, the skill will be mastered.
I can then share my frameworks, systems, ideas, and lessons with my companies, partners, and clients.
A rising tide lifts all boats. The impact will be massive.
So why am I telling you this?
Am I saying that YOU should spend all your time creating content?
No, you don’t need to.
But there is something you should be doing.
Something you could go DEEP on.
There’s a skill you can master, but you are the novice who thinks it’s a waste of time.
My challenge to you today: GO DEEP
This journey will surprise you with where it leads.
Try harder,
JM
P.S. - What’s the skill you need to develop right now? Reply and let me know.
