An Easy Million Dollar Website Tweak You can Do in 5 minutes
How do you build a landing page that will guarantee you get customers?
How do you build a landing page that will guarantee you get customers?
I don’t know if I can guarantee anything, but I can give you one simple tweak to your website that will generate more revenue for you.
This one tweak has easily generated over $1M in revenue for the companies I am involved in…
I mean, I have actually tracked it. This is no estimation.
Once upon a time, it seemed like the only people who needed highly optimized landing and sales pages were direct response internet marketers.
Now, it doesn’t matter if you are a gym owner, online course creator, physical therapist, freelancer, or real estate agent.
You need high-converting landing pages!
Today, I am going to give you two things.
Thing #1 - The one tweak every human with a website should make
Thing #2 - A marketing framework for building a high-converting page
You Won’t Do This…
Years ago, I attended a marketing conference, and one speaker talked about website conversion rate optimization.
I was very intrigued.
Because my website got A LOT of traffic, but the conversion was pretty low. And this is my first lesson to YOU.
You may not have a landing page problem; you may have a traffic problem. Yet, people always want me to tell them what’s wrong with their webpage. And they are always shocked when I ask questions like…
- How much traffic do you get every month?
- How much traffic converts to a lead or customer?
Then, when they track it all down, they may even have a DECENT conversion rate. So I tell them the page isn’t the problem; the traffic is the problem.
That’s not what they want! Instead, they want the landing page secrets.
Secret: There are no secrets.
So Lesson #1 - Know your problem before you pursue solutions.
Anyway, back to that marketing conference…
This guy’s presentation was like 2 hours long, and I was furiously taking notes. Then he got to the final slide of the presentation and called everyone out.
He said, “Annnd, you won’t do any of this.”
BOOM! A man from my own heart was calling people out for their lack of taking action. I was EVEN MORE intrigued.
He said, “I get it, you’re busy, and you don’t have time for all this. So do this one thing, and you should see an immediate bump in conversion.”
What was that ONE THING?
Thing #1: The ONE Tweak
A button.
A button in the top right-hand corner of your website.
What this button should do is different for every business.
This button could be…
- A Free Trial
- Book a Call
- Schedule an Appointment
- Download my Free Thing
- Fill Out Contact Form
- Request a Quote
- Call My Office
It should be whatever the next logical step is in your business. Most of the time that will NOT be BUYING something.
Most website owners make it too hard to find out how to do business with you. They don’t want to read your crap. They want to solve their problem. Some people have been referred to you, and they are already SOLD. They need the button to click to sign up, pay, book a call, etc.
If you make this hard for them, you will lose them.
Is it that simple?
Yes.
Again, not groundbreaking. But if you don’t have that button, that’s something you can fix today instead of saving my newsletter for something you will “get around to” and never take action on.
Do it NOW!
If you already have it, GOOD, because thing #2 is a bit heavier.
Thing #2 - AIDA Framework
After that, here’s how you can REALLY optimize a landing page.
Remember, a landing page may be where that button leads. It’s not necessarily your homepage, but adding elements from this framework to your homepage will help your conversion rates (most home pages suck).
To be clear, I didn’t create this framework. But it is beneficial, so I am sharing it with you.
It’s called the AIDA Framework, and here it is:
Attention:
- Headline (short, intriguing, usually mentioning the benefit of product/service)
- Sub-headline (a bit more detail about the benefit)
- Problem (common problem people have when not using the product/service)
Interest:
- Video (add it in if you have one to increase credibility)
- Pictures (use case of product/service)
- Internal validation (mention how product/service is used for results)
- Examples (why do they need it? Get in their head)
Desire:
- **Original price (show it and validate it)
- **Your price (show it and tell people they can get lifetime access with a link to buy it now)
- Testimonial (show a real testimonial)
- Objections (go through common objections and debunk them)
- Benefits (all the cool things they get)
Action:
- Offer (call to action to buy or take next steps)
- **Scarcity (time until deal closes, how many deals are left)
- Social proof (reviews and questions answered)
**Optional
Note the optional items. These items should be reserved for limited-time promotions you may run throughout the year.
And that’s it!
You can experiment with “how” you put all this on a page, but that’s the format and order. Make it look as pretty as you want, but make sure you include every checklist item.
It will make your next landing page a breeze to create.
Today’s action items:
- Add the CTA Button to your homepage
- Practice a draft of the AIDA Framework in a word doc
- Eventually transfer that doc to a webpage
Try harder,
