i'm shifting how i use ai...immediately

hey Builder,

is ai making you, well, stupid?

ai-use is second nature at this point.
I mean how many times would you say you have used ai in the past 72 hours?

once?
twice?
a hundred?

I read a study that has been making the rounds and it has confirmed my biggest fear with ai.

in terms of you brain….
“if you don’t use it, you lose it.”

so, yeah, you’re probably getting dumber.
sorry.

but I don’t like to only point to a problem…
I prefer solutions.
so I got your back.

over the past week, I have DRASTICALLY shifted how I use ai.
here are the 2 things I am doing to protect my most important asset: my mind.

1.) quizzes

I often go back and forth with ai, as many do.
and most of the time I use ai, I am seeking to understand something.

so the simple “add” I have done is: QUIZZES

that’s right.
just like in middle school.

if I am trying to learn or understand something through ai, I read through the conversation and then I will ask ChatGPT to quiz me.

I ask for 5 questions to make sure I understand the content and one question as a summary to make sure I can summarize the topic.

here’s the exact prompt:

“I want you to quiz me on this concept to test my understanding. Give me 5 questions, one at a time, with immediate feedback after each answer. For the final question, ask me to explain the concept in my own words in a short paragraph, and check that my summary of the concept is correct.”

it’s a small thing, but it’s awesome.
I feel like I am actually learning at a deep level.

ChatGPT will catch something small I misunderstood and correct me.
it is turning into my teacher and not my assistant.

2.) raw content

one thing that’s been really tough for me on Instagram is…engagement.
so I’ve been experimenting with content on my instagram page for the last two weeks.

most of the time, I’ll have a talking head video with an ai caption that summarizes what I said.
that’s more my ‘typical content’

but lately, I am posting more “raw content.”

just something I wrote, off the top of my head, unedited.
no polish. no ai to check grammar. no formatting.

a raw stream of consciousness, if you will 😂…
and guess what… engagement is up!
