so it begins, again, better human business
relaunching the podcast after a four year break. why I'm tying personal development and entrepreneurship into one show, and what to expect going forward.
Summary
this is the first episode of the relaunch. better humanology ran from 2015 to 2019. then four years off. now it’s back as better human business, and the focus is sharper than it’s ever been. how do we become better humans, and how do we build businesses that make humans better.
-
four years off. better humanology covered being a better human through every angle. that was right for that time. it isn’t now. business has been the dominant arena of my life for the last decade, and the lessons I learned getting to seven figures and into the Inc. 500 are worth pulling forward.
-
the rebrand isn’t a hard break. better humanology becomes better human business. same north star, sharper scope. think of the name two ways. the business of being a better human, the stuff it takes to be a good person, sleep, training, food, mind. and the better human business, the company that helps humans get better. those two ideas drive every episode.
-
format. short episodes, 5 to 15 minutes, twice a week. answering listener questions, sharing what I’m actively doing in business, occasional interviews when the right operator comes through. no hour long monologues. no fluff.
-
quick credibility, because this is also a sales pitch for your subscribe button. PT Biz hit number 447 on the Inc. 500 in 2022 with 1394% growth. Garage Gym Athlete has had over 20,000 athletes through programs. I’ve been creating online content since 2011 and full time entrepreneur since 2014. I’m not in a closet recording opinions. I’ve built the businesses.
-
the thing I haven’t done well over the decade is documentation. heads down, doing the work, almost never recording the thinking behind it. that’s what this podcast fixes. if you want to shortcut the years it took me to figure something out, this is where to listen.
-
you’ll hear marketing, leadership, finance, hiring, mindset, occasional fitness, occasional family. there will be a heavy entrepreneurship slant because that’s where most of my time goes. but everything stays tied to the bigger question.
-
there is no business growth without personal growth. anyone who’s been in the game for any number of years already knows this. the more you grow as a person the more your business grows. if that sounds like the right podcast for you, subscribe. try harder.

the four year break
How do I, how do we become better humans? Let’s focus on that. And then also, how do we build businesses that can also build better humans or make humans better? The most impactful business is the business that genuinely improves another human, a better human business. And to grow a business like this, you have to continually improve yourself.
This podcast is a documentation of that thesis, scaling businesses and also personal growth. My goal is for you to shortcut this journey. So if you’re ready to try hard, subscribe, if you like what you’re hearing, please share and enjoy. All right, we are back. That was a quick break. You know, what was that?
A four years? Yeah. Four year break from anything being published on this podcast feed. So if you are subscribed and you’re getting alerted about a new episode, four years later, congratulations on being subscribed. Let me know. Maybe I should send you a T-shirt or something, some sort of gift for sticking around.
Now, a lot of you are going to be new as I am launching and announcing this podcast. So this was the Better Humanology podcast. This is where I got my start in podcasting, recorded the episode, some episodes in 2014, officially launched Better Humanology in 2015, ran it until 2019, where we kind of cut it off in March.
March of 2019. And you can see what a lot of what we explored on the Better Humanology podcast kind of went all over the place. Uh, you know, we were always focused on being a better human. I always ask guests, what is your best advice for becoming a better human, 100% open-ended, and I loved getting responses to that.
So if you go one episode previous, the one that was published in 2019 of March, 2019, uh, you can listen to a lot of those responses. Very cool. Uh, so why am I kicking this feedback up? Why am I rebranding it? Well, I really want to keep some continuity going. Where is the better human business going?
What does that mean? What am I doing here? So I want to answer some of those questions real quick. So first off, yes, there is a rebrand. Better Humanology is turning into better human business. You could call it a rebrand, but to be honest, Better Humanology wasn’t doing much. So it is almost just a relaunch, but I wanted to keep, like I said, the continuity of what I had done in the past, um, just to stay focused on that same thing.
why i’m relaunching now
So what’s this podcast going to be like? Is it just going to be like previous episodes of the Better Humanology podcast about an hour long interview with a guest? So, so on and so forth. No. So what this podcast is going to be, it’s going to be whatever I want it to be. And that’s my favorite part.
Now I will give you some structure because it’s not just going to be random thoughts and musings from my brain, but I want to be able to explore whatever I want to explore. Um, so if you didn’t know, I also have another podcast called the Garage Gym Athlete Podcast, and I’m kind of stuck there only talking about fitness.
Now I am super passionate about fitness. I love fitness and health, but I want to be able to explore other areas. Obviously family is a big part of my life. Entrepreneurship is a big part of my life. Investing all these other things. I want to be able to cover them while also still being able to cover, you know, human performance, personal development, those kinds of things.
So that’s what you can think of when you are subscribing to this podcast, the Better Human Business Podcast. Think of it in kind of two ways. So there’s the business of being a better human. So that’s all the things that it takes, you know, being, being a good person, uh, you know, sleeping well, exercising, training, eating the right foods, all that kind of stuff.
And then there is the better human hyphenated business where you are a business that helps other human beings get better, and that’s very wide ranging. So those are kind of the two topics in how I, how I’m putting it together in my brain. So how do I, how do we become better humans? Let’s focus on that.
And then also how do we build businesses that can also build better humans or make humans better? And that’s what we’re going to be doing. So I’m going to be covering, like I said, personal development, entrepreneurship, might touch on some fitness and training. That’s pretty well covered over at the Garage Gym Athlete Podcast.
If you are not subscribed there, go subscribe. Uh, but here’s my, what I want to be doing a lot too. So I have a lot of questions banked up. So from EO3 coaches who’ve been through our EO3 coaching course, they’re pursuing interest in business from my work over at Physical Therapy Biz. You know, a lot of people have questions emailed in.
two meanings of better human business
I mean, I have tons of these just sitting around. So I want to answer a lot of these questions. If you ever have one, let me know. Um, and I’ll, I’ll formalize that process as we go on, but answering questions and then also teaching, you know, teaching things that I have, uh, done lessons learned in all those kinds of things, but a big part of it is documenting the process.
Okay. So this is something I have been horrible at, and I wish I would have done more. I’ve been sitting around as a full-time entrepreneur since 2014, creating content since 2011, and I’ve barely documented the process of what I’ve done, how I’ve done it. I would love to be able to go back and look and learn and hear what I was thinking at different stages or different strategies I was implementing to grow the business, and that’s what I want this podcast to really focus on is the documentation.
So if you are a current business owner, or if you’re a human being trying to get better, you’re going to hear a lot of the actual, okay, here’s what I am doing now to get better at X, Y, and Z. So that could be marketing to get. To grow a business that could be training to get better as a, as a human being, like physical training.
It could be any of these categories. Um, and there will be a heavy entrepreneurship slant here because that’s something I’m very passionate about. It takes up a lot of my time. Something I’m focused on growing businesses is a big part of what I do. So we will be talking about that, but I’m going to document these in real time.
Not holding anything back. Like, Hey, here are the strategies for this month, this week, this year, whatever. So hopefully you can learn from what I’m documenting and be able to implement it yourself. And then also same on the personal development side, episodes will not be long, you know, unless I, you know, we have an interview, I want to get back into interviewing people, which probably will happen at some point, those might be some longer segmented podcast episodes, but I’d like to keep them short.
You know, I’m thinking anywhere in the range of five to 15 minutes would be ideal that way I can stick to publishing twice per week, that’s going to be the goal, Tuesday and Thursday podcast episodes. And, you know, covering all of these things, the documentation, um, and then lessons learned, answering questions, all of those things.
So that is what you can expect on the better human business podcast. I really want to have you around for the journey. So if you are interested in what we’re doing, just subscribe to the podcast feed. If you’re coming back from one of the older podcasts, like, Hey, what is what’s going on here? We’ll go ahead and click unsubscribe.
documenting the journey
If you don’t want to be a part of this anymore, after you’ve kind of, kind of heard what I will be talking about, what I will not be talking about. Uh, so there’s your decision point right there. We just got a couple minutes into the podcast and I want to talk about where I’ve been, what I’ve been doing from 2019, uh, to now, 2023.
Briefly, just to kind of where people know what’s been going on. So I ran the better humanology podcast, kind of launched it. And really it’s just, it’s just out of this passion that I have for, you know, personal development, personal growth, wanting to help others succeed and do better. So I launched the better humanology podcast, like I said, back in 2015, we ran it until 2019.
At the same time, I was growing multiple other businesses. At that time I was growing into three fitness on the coaching side where we had professional development for coaches, teaching and programming and some business information, also garage gym athlete. And then around that same time, end of 2018, 2019, uh, I formed a business partnership with, uh, Danny Matei and Eve Gigi, uh, doing physical therapy biz.
So what we’re doing at physical therapy biz.com. And so there was a lot going on so much so that better humanology. I was like, I can’t keep doing this. There’s, I had too many things going on too many, uh, too many pieces of content to create. Uh, you know, I was feeling very unorganized disjointed, but in the last four years, what I focused on is primarily growing two of the companies that I was mentioning.
So garage gym athlete really focused on that, uh, heavily. And then also, uh, physical therapy biz focusing on that heavily. And, uh, so much so that, you know, with partners and a really awesome team at physical therapy biz, uh, we were able to hit the Inc 500 in 2022. So we got to, uh, number four 47 and we saw 1,394% growth.
And I’m going to talk about kind of my lessons learned from that and everything. But the reason I’m telling you is because if you’re like, Hey, this guy’s sharing business information. Is he just a dude in his closet recording a podcast? Well, one, I’m not in my closet, but two, no, I have some experience.
I know what I’m doing. Um, you know, at garage gym athlete, we’ve had over 20,000, 30,000 athletes, uh, run, uh, through our program. So I just have a lot of experience online, publishing information, podcasting. Um, I’m not big in the social media world. Uh, that’s kind of by choice. I found that there are ways to grow businesses without having to be big on social media while I’m not fully against it.
what to expect from the show
It’s just not my, my wheelhouse. I done that in a lot of other ways. So that’s what I’ve been working on from 2019 to 2023 garage gym athlete, physical therapy biz, and that’s where I’m spending a lot of my time now. And I want to kick this up again because I have the time and I want to keep the episode short.
There’s not going to be a lot of pressure here. I want to share my lessons learned and help other people out. Like I said, by documenting the journey and going back, reflecting on lessons learned, so hopefully you can pick some things up and a shortcut, a lot of the process that I had to go through, uh, you know, cause garage gym athlete was growing, growing, growing, took years and years and years, and what I was able to do is take a lot of those lessons learned when we started PT biz and shortcut that process significantly.
And if I can bring even a fraction of that to you guys here, you’re going to be able to shortcut your growth trajectory. Um, so stick around for a couple episodes, see what you like. I will be, I don’t want to say going all over the place, but anything I think that could help you grow as a person or grow your business, we will be covering.
And I think you’ll realize pretty quickly that there is no business growth with, without personal growth. Only very beginning entrepreneurs won’t understand that if you are at all seasoned, have any number of years under your belt, you’re going to quickly realize that the more you grow as a person, the more you develop as a person, the more you’re going to grow the business.
So while they might not seem like they’re perfectly aligned, they are 100% aligned becoming better, training your body, eating the right foods all has to do with being a great entrepreneur and growing a business, but you know what? I still have a lot to learn, so I don’t want to sit around like I’m on a, you know, on stage preaching to people about how to grow a business.
Sure. I’ll talk about lessons learned. I’ll talk about what I’m doing. Tutorials, things like that, but I still have so much to learn. So I’m reading. We’re going to go over what I’m reading, what I’m doing, what I’m taking notes on. There will be occasional interviews when I find the entrepreneur who I want to talk to, and I will see what kind of lessons I can learn from them and we can learn together.
So that’s what this podcast is going to be about documenting. We are in this together. And I want to pour as much as I can into this podcast and I do want you to be around for the journey. So if that sounds good, hit subscribe. Welcome to the better human business podcast. I’m really looking forward to this journey with you guys.
