boring. brutal. better.

do more pull-ups

let’s talk about how to do more pull-ups.

hey Builder,

let’s talk about how to do more pull-ups.
why talk about pull‑ups?

because most entrepreneurs struggle to fit fitness in.

too many meetings.
too much context switching.
too little time.

here’s a stupid‑simple plan that works anywhere, in 20-45 minutes.

you can do this.

I couldn’t do a single pull‑up when I started.
then a marine crushed me with a brutal bodyweight session…
high volume, tiny rests, zero fluff.

I turned that method into a one‑pager and have used versions of it for two decades.
I’ve taught it to thousands.
it just works.

the plan: strike zero

step 1: pick 1-3 bodyweight moves.

  • pull‑up, push‑up, squat.

step 2: set your totals.

write them like this:

  • pull‑up 50.
  • push‑up 100.
  • squat 100.

step 3: go to (clean) failure each set.

do max reps → strike the old number → write the new remainder.

  • rest 60 sec. Repeat.
  • example: pull‑up 50. 40. 25. 15. 5. 0.

**step 4: keep going until you “strike zero.”

**new or detrained?

  • start with one exercise
  • cap 5 to 6 sets
  • rest longer if needed
  • cap the whole session at 45 min, and tailor totals to your level.

If you want a sample week, check out this instagram post.

how to use it (as a founder with no time)

  • hang a doorway bar where you must see it.
  • schedule 3 strike‑zero days on your calendar; dedicate the other days to simple conditioning (walks, rows, bike).
keep each session between 20 to 45 min. stop when you hit zero or the cap.
  • progress by nudging totals up 5 to 10 reps next week.

why it helps your business

strong body → better focus, mood, and stress tolerance.

you don’t need a 90‑minute routine.
you need a repeatable one.
this is it.

try harder,

JM

P.S. I published two podcast episodes this week!!

Give it a listen and let me know what you think.
