boring. brutal. better.

get 2 hours back every day

I want to give you some time back, literally hand you hours you’ve been wasting.

Hey friend

I want to give you some time back, literally hand you hours you’ve been wasting.
But before we dive in, there are two things you need to hear:

  1. You’re not special.
  2. You have to commit for this to work.

I know, that first one stings.
But trust me, it’s true for all of us.

The goal?
Let’s snag two hours a day.
That’s 40 hours a month, an entire extra workweek.
Think about how much more you could do, or how much less stress you’d have.

Here’s the catch:
You need to stop task switching.

You know the drill: email open, Slack buzzing, phone lighting up…
Every time you pivot, your brain doesn’t just snap onto the new task.
It drags a little mental baggage with it (that “cognitive residue”).

Studies say it can take 15 to 25 minutes to fully refocus.
If you’re hopping around 8 to 10 times a day, that’s 2 to 4 hours of lost productivity.
Every. Single. Day.

But I hear it all the time:

  • “Nah, I’m great at multitasking.”
  • “It doesn’t take me 15 minutes to refocus.”
  • “I’m not losing two hours a day. That’s crazy.”

Right.
Because constant social media scrolling has really boosted our attention spans, right?

Don’t kid yourself.
We all pay the price when we bounce around too much.

So let’s fix it.

Block 2 to 4 hours a day for one BIG task.
Turn off notifications, close your inbox, hide your phone, whatever it takes to protect that focus.
Try it for a week.
You’ll probably get more done in less time than ever.

If you haven’t felt “flow” in a while, you’re missing out.
Flow is that zone where everything clicks and you’re totally absorbed.
It’s addictive once you get there.
The quickest way is carving out real, uninterrupted time.

So test it.
Pick tomorrow, block off two hours, and guard it like it’s the most important meeting of your day.
No sneaky peeks at email or Instagram.
By week’s end, you’ll notice you’re calmer, more creative, and you’ve shaved a chunk of wasted time from your schedule.

The best part?
This isn’t rocket science.
You don’t need fancy tools.
You just need to accept you’re not magically immune to distractions, and commit to fighting for your focus.

Let me know how it goes.
If you have questions or want more tips on hitting flow faster, just reply.
I’m happy to share what’s worked for me.

Cheers to getting your time back

try harder,

JM
