boring. brutal. better.

it’s never too late to turn a day around

long story short, my best friend passed a few months back, and earlier this week was his birthday.

hey friend,

I had a rough day recently.

long story short, my best friend passed a few months back, and earlier this week was his birthday.

the day spiraled, and I couldn’t shake the mood.

I was irritated by everything, my kids could tell, my wife too.
I buried myself in work, skipped exercise, ate like trash, just didn’t care.
the deeper I went, the worse it got.

by 7:45 p.m., I finally decided to do something about it.
checked my watch, I was at 10,000 steps.
I aim for 15,000 steps daily.

so I popped in headphones, hopped on the treadmill, and walked until I hit 15,000.
I already felt different.
then I knocked out a bunch of pushups.
then I jumped into the sauna, extra hot, extra long.

by 9:15, I felt like I was back to baseline.
I got my gear ready for a 5 a.m. wake-up so I could start fresh.
otherwise, I would’ve let that bad day bleed into the next.

I hit the ground running the next day.
I changed my state…
which changed my mindset…
which altered my future day.

my point?

it’s never too late to turn a day around.

I did it with barely any time left.
imagine if I’d taken the reins first thing.

this lesson applies to everything:

  • business going south? cut the pity party, start acting.
  • life not what you want? get to work.
  • out of shape? get moving.

don’t let one bad day morph into two.
make the change now, even if it’s 7:45 p.m.
you’ll thank yourself tomorrow.

try harder,

JM
