best way to use AI right now

AI as a thinking partner, not a writer. record your voice, let AI organize the mess, keep the words your own.

Summary

AI is the loudest tool in the room and most people are using it badly. the goal is not to replace your brain. the goal is to scale your brain.

my actual workflow:

  1. record first. I voice memo or I record a podcast like this one. the words are mine. the angles are mine. the examples are mine. AI is not anywhere near the keyboard at this point.

  2. transcribe and organize. AI takes the raw transcript, cleans the umms, finds the structure, and lays it out. I never have it write new sentences. it just makes the existing ones easier to read.

  3. distribute. one recording becomes a podcast, a blog post, an instagram caption, a newsletter, three short clips. AI handles the reformatting so I’m not retyping the same idea five times.

  4. data mining. give it a messy spreadsheet, a stack of customer feedback, an analytics export. it finds the patterns in seconds that would have taken me hours. this is where the real productivity unlock is, not the writing.

keep your voice. use the tool. the people whose content sounds like AI wrote it are the ones who let AI write it. don’t be that. ChatGPT can fix a sentence. it cannot give you a point of view.

introduction to AI in business

The most impactful business is the business that genuinely improves another human, a better human business. And to grow a business like this, you have to continually improve yourself. This podcast is a documentation of that thesis, scaling businesses and also personal growth. My goal is for you to shortcut this journey.

So if you’re ready to try hard, subscribe, if you like what you’re hearing, please share and enjoy. What is the best way to utilize AI right now? I did a couple of AI podcasts early on last year, even before that. And I want to give everyone an update of how I’m utilizing AI. I mentioned in previous podcasts, like, hey, don’t miss it, be a part of it.

Just don’t ignore it, essentially. Don’t be the boomer, right? Don’t do that. You got to embrace these things. But I want to give everybody an update of the best ways to utilize AI right now, how I think it can help your business and what I am currently doing. This is the Better Human Business Podcast.

ai’s capabilities in creating visuals and videos

I’m Jerred Moon. And AI has come a long way. I mean, very simple things like it’s getting so good at so many things. You know, the ability for it to create images has come a long way. It can create amazing imagery. It can now do video. You can just write in like what you want. I want a guy lifting a barbell or running down a road, and you can give it super descriptive terms.

And now it pops up video. Pretty awesome video. And I think that specific video platform is called Runway something another. I didn’t get in here to give you specific ideas, but there are so many things that AI can do now. It can really bolster and augment not only you, but your employees. And that’s always been kind of my stance on AI is like, hey, we need to utilize it, but don’t utilize it to the detriment of your brain power.

Okay, don’t have it create the content for you and don’t have it do things that are going to make you dumber. But what you can do is it can help you supercharge things that you already do. So I thought I’d get on and talk about the two biggest ways I’m using it right now. The first is aiding in written content.

utilizing AI for enhancing content creation

And so let me explain that. I, like you are listening right now, do a ton of this. I record a lot of audio podcasts. I record a lot of video content. And I do those things way more than I am currently writing. I used to write a lot more, but I’ve begun to write a lot less and I’m doing a lot more audio form and I’m doing a lot more video.

And there’s still some writing in the preparation for those things and everything else, but I’m doing a lot of audio and video and it doesn’t leave as much time for writing, even though I do enjoy writing. But sometimes this, like this podcast or a video, I might want to turn into an Instagram caption to solidify the same idea.

Or maybe I need to email out my newsletter, right? And so I’m going to do that. Here’s what I don’t do and what I see people doing, but you can tell they’re doing it and they really shouldn’t. So let’s go to the newsletter example. I think that everybody should be sending a newsletter. What I don’t want to do is go to AI and say, Hey AI, give it this long prompt and say, write my newsletter for me because I’m lazy.

ai’s role in streamlining newsletter production

I don’t want to do that. Because what comes across is an AI generated newsletter. It’s actually, for me, someone who uses AI quite a bit, I’m starting to pick up very easily on like, oh, AI wrote that for you. Like it’s very easy to tell. What you can do instead is do something like I’m doing right now.

Record a podcast. Even if you don’t have a podcast, record into your iPhone. Record into just some headphones or whatever. Record an audio note. Record all your thoughts. Like say I want to send a newsletter and I have all the ideas for it. You can even use AI to generate the ideas like, Hey, what are some good ideas for the newsletter?

And then you can just record yourself talking about that topic. Whatever your business is, like say for strength and conditioning with me, I wanted to talk specifically about training a specific energy system, right? Like, well, I could sit here and talk for three to five minutes into a microphone, just recording my ideas and thoughts on this.

recording ideas for content using AI

It’s going to be super unpolished. It won’t really flow. Like maybe it doesn’t sound that great. I’m just trying to hash out all my ideas, but it doesn’t matter. I don’t have to clean that transcript up. I can take that transcript over to AI and then I can say, Hey, here are all my ideas and thoughts on topic X, Y, and Z.

I need to send this out to a newsletter and, you know, to my audience. Here’s who my audience is. It needs to be about this many words. Take all of my ideas and turn it into a newsletter and also use my tone of voice. That can be your prompt. Now you’re utilizing your words just to clean up and produce a newsletter.

And what comes out is normally very good. It’s helped me craft, it does not help me craft the try harder newsletter that we send out for better human business. That is something I do. That’s part of my content creation on a given week. And I think that keeps me sharp in writing. So I still write all of that.

ai’s utility in producing engaging content

Where it does come in handy is like the Garage Gym Athlete podcast will record for an hour and then I want to send it out on Monday to my email list and be like, Hey, here’s the new podcast, but I don’t need to rehash the whole thing. So I’ll send the transcript to AI and I’ll be like, Hey, just write an announcement post for this.

And now it can shoot it out and be like, Hey, here’s what happened this week. And so you see how it can do that. Like if I’m running short on time or another thing it could do is like I said, Instagram caption. You can take an idea that you already have and be like, Hey, here’s the transcript from it.

Write a caption, an engaging caption for Instagram here. My only point in saying all of this is you want AI to augment and not replace you. So make it super power, supercharge what you’re already doing and not replace everything that you’re doing because your content will start to get crappy and won’t be any good.

data analysis enhancements through AI

So that’s the first thing, utilize it in that kind of way. And the best way I know to do that is to record, transcribe, and then send it to AI to turn into what will still be very unique content, just cleaned up and organized by a computer. And what’s funny is like people who have like a, you know, full-time assistants in the office with them, like an executive assistant might have to do stuff like this for their boss back in the day.

Be like, Hey, I’m going to say all this stuff and then you’re going to write an email to somebody. Like it’s the same type of idea, but now AI can do it. And then the second thing I’m using it for, and really the biggest last thing is just data mining. This is where AI has just gotten better and better and better.

So if you’re collecting any kind of data on your business, I don’t care what it is. If you have it in spreadsheet format, that’s kind of clear. You can just put your data, upload it into chat GPT. They have like this computational bot or something like that. You can start to ask so many questions about your data.

real-world applications of AI in data management

That was like, honestly, never possible before because I’ve always been big on collecting data in business, but sometimes it takes a data set from over here and a data set from over there to overlay them, to cross-reference things, to find something out. It becomes very cumbersome and it’s very difficult, right?

And not with AI. Now you can upload tons of data, ask AI questions about your business and get answers. What have otherwise taken you hours and hours and hours? So just start thinking about that if you’re ever poring over data from wherever you get your data. Just think, hey, could I upload this data to AI and ask some questions like, where did my customers come from?

Or how long does it take for someone to become a customer? What’s the average spend of a customer? If you’re looking for those data, like super simple data points or even more complex, you can do this so easily with AI these days, but that’s it. Those are the main areas I’m honestly using it right now.

summary of ai’s current and potential impact

I use it quite a bit frequently and day to day with research and all these other things, but those are the two most powerful ways I’ve been using it. And I’ve kind of mentioned those kinds of ideas before, but those are the main ways until AI gets even more powerful. Those are the best ways to be utilizing it right now because I can create content so much faster, even in my own voice without being a sellout or without having AI create the content and be the creative person for me.

I can be the creative person. It can just clean up after me. And then same with research and dissecting your own data. It’s the best place to do it right now. I couldn’t imagine a better place to look at AI. Now to do these things, what are you going to have to do? Try harder.
