I never said these words, AI is getting crazy

I cloned my voice in Descript and had AI read an article I wrote. four minutes of me saying things I never actually said. AI works, the trick is to feed it the context.

Summary

I’m not going to do this again on the podcast, but I wanted to show you what AI can do right now. I recorded this in Descript, which lets you upload enough of your voice that it can recreate it from written text. so the middle of this episode is me reading an article that I never actually said out loud. AI did it. people I showed it to thought it was real.

  1. what AI read was an article I wrote called “how to get client results faster without ever increasing speed.” it’s about industries where you genuinely can’t deliver faster, fitness, physical therapy, business coaching. you can’t shrink the calendar on real change. but you can change the perception of speed. I call the approach destroying Bob Ross.

  2. step one, find the why. when somebody hires you, the surface goal is rarely the real goal. ask why a series of times until you hit the emotional core. Tom doesn’t want to lose 50 pounds. Tom wants to play with his grandkids.

  3. step two, paint the picture. you have two options. paint the picture of unachievable perfection. or paint the picture of the bad alternative. for Tom, the perfection picture is six day workouts, wearable, calorie tracking, no cheating, twelve new habits at once. you walk him through all of it with a straight face and then say “I’m kidding.”

  4. step three, throw rocks. you poke holes in the picture you just painted, tied back to the emotional why. perfection here means twelve simultaneous habits, which is impossible for most humans, which is why every program in the fitness industry has a graveyard of failures. you can move slower and actually keep the result. with Tom’s grandkid goal, slower wins. that’s how you reframe speed.

  5. that’s the article. AI in my voice read all of it cleanly enough that most people couldn’t tell. shorter clips are nearly indistinguishable. longer reads have stiff moments.

  6. the business takeaway isn’t “outsource your podcast to AI.” it’s that AI right now is a real efficiency multiplier when you augment your team with it. content production, drafting, research, redundant tasks. start using it in small spots. don’t outsource your judgment to it. try harder.

The most impactful business is the business that genuinely improves another human, a better human business. And to grow a business like this, you have to continually improve yourself. This podcast is a documentation of that thesis, scaling businesses and also personal growth. My goal is for you to shortcut this journey.

So if you’re ready to try hard, subscribe. If you like what you’re hearing, please share and enjoy. Hey, Jerred Moon here. Welcome to the Better Human Business podcast. So I have something very interesting for you today. And I promise this is the only time that I will do this. But I wanted to show you what’s happening.

If you’ve been listening to the podcast or following the newsletter or anything like that, I’m looking into artificial intelligence a lot and using all the different tools. It’s just getting crazy. There’s so much stuff. It’s very hard to keep up with, but finding like legitimate use cases in your business, I think are important and just really interesting.

So I’m actually recording this right now in a program called Descript. I have no affiliation with the company, no financial kickbacks, anything like that. But something they can do is if you record or give them recordings of your voice, which I just happen to have a lot of, they can recreate your voice.

And then when they recreate your voice, you can then just put in written text and you can hear yourself read what you’ve written, even though you never said it. So pretty crazy. And so what I’m going to be doing in this podcast is I want to show you that technology. So I wrote an article about it’s called How to Get Client Results Faster Without Ever Increasing Speed.

And so what this article is about is really just if you are in an industry where you can’t move people faster, like physical therapy or fitness or some sort of coaching, business coaching, something like that, you might not be able to get somebody to result in 30 days because it’s just not realistic when you need more lasting change, habitual change, whatever.

So what do we do from a marketing standpoint to be able to keep people around, keep them engaged and let them be okay with the process being slower? That’s really what this entire article is about. But what I did was I copied this entire article into Descript. I had to edit it a little bit and massage it to make it sound a little bit less robotic.

the article ai me read

But I hear my voice all the time. And so I think it doesn’t sound that great. But I’ve shown this to a couple of team members now and people who don’t know me as well as I know myself or as well as like my wife knows me or my dad or something like that. People are saying that it’s pretty impressive.

So what I’m about to do, I’m about to technically sign off. That means I am no longer recording on my microphone. I am about to hand it off to artificial intelligence to speak to you in my voice from content I’ve only written. I’ve never said out loud. I’ve only ever written this content. So it’s about four minutes from when we start.

And I’ll let you know when we start. This is about four minutes worth of an article. So there’s still something that you can get out of out of this podcast. I still spend a lot of time writing that article and the ideas and the concepts behind it. And then after the artificial intelligence is done reading the article, I will come back on and finish out the podcast.

So let’s get started. Here is AI Jerred Moon. If you want to make a lot of money, you must get results fast. It doesn’t matter the type of business. Why do you think Amazon will deliver same day? If you have a problem, whichever entrepreneur can solve it, the fastest wins. But what if you can’t increase your speed to results?

A fitness coach can’t increase the speed of healthy weight loss. A physical therapist can’t fix back pain in seven days. So what do we do? How do we go faster without increasing speed? We do it using an approach called destroying Bob Ross. I have been in the fitness industry for a long time and have a love hate relationship with the entire thing.

I love helping people. I love science. I love seeing people get lasting results. But I pretty much hate the industry as a whole. The entire industry has been poisoned with extremism in every facet from diet to intensity and expectations. My focus has always been on lasting change, you know, results that stick.

The unsexy things like habit creation, habit change, mindset work, doing something daily over decades, things that don’t sell. When a competitor says, we can help you lose 10 pounds in 10 days, and we say, you’ll be a better human in 10 years, we lost. So what do we do? You have to paint the entire picture for your clients like Bob Ross.

destroying bob ross

Then you have to destroy the painting. Let me give you an example. Let’s say I’m working with a guy named Tom who wants to lose 50 pounds. Step one, I need to find out why Tom wants to lose 50 pounds. I’ll skip the whole process. But in short, I will ask him why a series of times until we get past I want my clothes to fit better and we land on something like I want to be able to play with my grandkids.

Step two, I need to paint him a picture. Tom, here’s the fastest way to get this done. I will give you a program where you work out six days weekly for roughly one to two hours per day. I will give you a wearable where I can track your heart rate and intensity to tell you when you are being a baby and when you are trying.

We will be doing weights and cardio almost daily. If you don’t like those things, it doesn’t matter. Next, we are going to change your diet completely. I will come to your house, clean out your pantry, and stock it with everything I know you should eat. I’ll give you a long list of what you can and can’t eat that I will need you to memorize.

No cheating. I will need you to sleep more, drink more water, and add more movement to your day. This is in addition to the workouts we will be doing. Lastly, I will need you to track every single calorie that goes into your mouth and report it to me at the end of each day. How does that sound, Tom?

Tom will likely have a deer in the headlights look at this point, and you can laugh and tell Tom you are kidding. Now, we throw rocks. I would continue. I’m kidding, Tom. Sure, if we did all that, you would lose weight. And we can get to you doing all those things, but we can’t start there. In that long list above, we would have to create about 12 new habits, which is impossible for most humans, even though that’s the expectation of most programs out there these days.

So if you hear things like that from other coaches, run away. Because most people have tried to lose weight and end up in one of three categories. They did everything perfectly, and it stuck. Nothing seemed to work. Something worked, but they gained the weight back. And that’s another issue with coaches and programs in the fitness industry.

They think we are all robots who need the correct inputs for the proper output, and they could care less about whether or not you keep the weight off after you achieve the goal. But we’re not like that. We’ve got guys like you who want the results, but you ultimately want to be able to play with your grandkids.

find the why, paint the picture, throw rocks

And with a goal like that, we need lasting change. We need to build the habits the right way, so we can permanently achieve our goal and always be able to play with your grandkids. If you work with us, you only have one thing we are working on each week. Every task will be manageable, and we will build slowly.

With this approach, you will achieve your goals. We will go a little slower than the fastest possible. But if we do it this way, you will permanently achieve your goals and get habits that stick for a lifetime. How does that sound? Boom. Do you think Tom will sign up even though I just told him we are slower?

Why it works. Step one, find the why. You need to find the why or emotional connection to the desired goal so that you can remind your client in step three. Why it works. People rarely make buying decisions based on logic. Instead, they do it on emotion, even if they don’t know that’s what they are doing.

Step two, paint the picture. You can paint one of two pictures. Option number one is to paint the picture of unachievable perfection. Option number two is to paint the picture of the alternative. Alternative examples. An alternative to a custom gift company would be a cheap impersonal gift no one will remember.

An alternative to physical therapy would be painful surgery that will cause more problems. Why it works. You are admitting that there are other options. Other options could be faster, but they are not better. Step three, throw rocks with emotional tie. Lastly, you poke holes in perfection, the alternative.

If we can’t increase the speed to results, we can change the perception of what speed even means. This is easier to do when we tie it back to the emotional reason for the decision. In the end, we are not promising to get results faster. Instead, we are changing the perception of speed. In this new reality for your client, they are moving faster to a destination they were unaware of when they started this journey.

Now, we are moving them faster without ever having increased speed. Try harder. All right, so what did you think? That is the end of artificial intelligence. Personally, I like how I say try harder than how artificial intelligence me says try harder. There are all sorts of crazy use cases for this.

augment your team, don’t replace humans

I’m never going to publish a full podcast like this again where I didn’t actually say the words. I don’t think it’s ready for that yet, but there are some tinier use cases to where if I was editing a podcast and I didn’t have the ability to rerecord, I could maybe just use this artificial intelligence version of me to correct two or three words that were said improperly or I mispronounced or something like that.

I haven’t used it in that capacity either, but another way that you could use it and just in the creation of content, shorter form content, I think the shorter the version of the use of artificial intelligence, like I just had a four and a half minute article read to you in my voice and you could probably tell where it got a bit robotic sometimes and not as fluid.

And there’s some portions in there with a couple of sentences or paragraph where it’s pretty spot on where people wouldn’t be able to tell. And so you could automate a lot of content production and just crazy stuff. Now, I’m thinking about this all from a business side. I could let my mind go crazy on all the negative ways and criminal ways this could be used and how scary all that is, but that’s really outside my scope and outside of what I’m doing.

But I am urging everyone to do what I’m doing, what my team is doing, is just start to use some AI in your business. Yeah, sure. It could be the end of all humanity. Who knows? But for right now, there are a lot of use cases that can alleviate some of your workload and make some redundant tasks faster and just speed up some things.

That’s how I’m viewing it right now is just an augmentation of things that we’re already doing, making us a little bit better, a little bit faster, a little bit more research and being able to do things with speed, which is a huge advantage in entrepreneurship. I don’t know how useful this exact AI is, but either way, I thought it was crazy.

Wanted to introduce it to all of you. So start thinking of ways you can use AI in your business and let me know if you have any questions. Try harder.
